Why Group Therapy?

Group therapy is a dynamic approach to self-discovery and emotional healing.  Instead of just you and your therapist, you get to engage with other people in the group effort aimed at emotional honesty and empathic listening.

Due to the confidentiality of the group, you have more freedom to express yourself than you might in your “real” relationships.  What you can learn about yourself and others through authentic communication is deeply transformational.

Improved interpersonal relationships, improved self-confidence, assertiveness, and the reduction of shame, depression and anxiety are some of the benefits of group therapy.

The Details of the Psychotherapy Group

This group meets weekly on Wednesday evenings from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m.  The location will be at my Encino office.  The group is limited to 8 participants.  The fee for the group is $50 per session.  Pre-group consultation sessions are required before participation.

How a Psychotherapy Group Works

As a Certified Group Psychotherapist, I have extensive experience working with and participating in groups.  I create an environment for individuals to do their inner work.  Inner work is the exploration of your thoughts and feelings and communicating those thoughts and feelings with others.

Although group members may have different challenges in their lives such as depression, anxiety, or relationship struggles, the vehicle of learning and change is the same: the opportunity to let the inner world of emotions and beliefs out into the external world of the group so that you can learn from them.

Is a Psychotherapy Group Right for You?

Here are some reasons that a therapy group might be right for you:

  • You’re getting a lot out of individual therapy and would like to enhance that experience
  • You want to try something different than individual therapy
  • You know that relationships are the focus of your work
  • Your life is too solitary.
